Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service govern access to and use of ShortAI. By creating an account, using the product, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms. If you are using ShortAI on behalf of a family or child, you represent that you have authority to supervise that use.

About ShortAI

ShortAI is a family-oriented educational answer tool. The product is designed to provide short factual responses, discourage copy-and-paste plagiarism, and avoid companion-style conversations. ShortAI is not a school, tutor, therapist, medical provider, legal advisor, financial advisor, emergency service, or substitute for adult supervision.

ShortAI may also provide teacher-directed school assignment tools, including assignment links, generated study steps, quizzes, student identifiers, scores, exports, and dashboard insights. These tools are intended to support instruction, not to replace teacher judgment or school record systems.

Accounts and Supervision

Account holders are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for supervising use by children or other household members. Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding whether ShortAI is appropriate for a child and for reviewing how the product is used.

You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account, including activity by child profiles, household members, or anyone else who obtains access through your login. You agree to keep account information accurate and to notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use ShortAI to:

  • Break the law or encourage illegal activity.
  • Request sexual, exploitative, violent, self-harm, or age-inappropriate material.
  • Seek instructions for weapons, evasion, wrongdoing, or dangerous behavior.
  • Bypass, disable, or interfere with copy protections, rate limits, safety filters, or account controls.
  • Scrape, overload, reverse engineer, resell, or misuse the product.
  • Submit another person's private information without permission.
  • Upload student rosters, student email lists, student ID numbers, or sensitive student information unless a feature and agreement specifically support that use.
  • Use ShortAI to produce work that violates school, academic, or workplace integrity rules.

School Use

Teachers and schools are responsible for deciding whether ShortAI is appropriate for their classroom, obtaining any required permissions, using approved school communication channels, and avoiding unnecessary student personal information. School assignment tools are designed to work with assignment links and student identifiers, such as first name with last initial or class alias, rather than uploaded student email lists, full legal names, or student ID numbers.

Teacher-directed assignment content should be reviewed and approved by the teacher before students use it. ShortAI may generate draft lesson steps, quiz questions, answer choices, and explanations, but teachers remain responsible for confirming that school assignment content is accurate, age-appropriate, and aligned with their instructional goals.

Educational Integrity

ShortAI is intended to support learning, not to complete assignments for students. The product uses one-sentence answers and read-only text to reduce plagiarism risk, but users remain responsible for following school rules, citing sources when required, and doing their own work.

Cited answers may provide a reference source, but a citation from ShortAI is not a guarantee that the source is sufficient for a particular classroom assignment. Students should follow teacher instructions and verify important facts before relying on an answer.

Safety Enforcement

We may refuse questions, limit usage, pause access, or terminate accounts when needed to protect users, enforce these Terms, prevent abuse, or comply with law. Safety and abuse protections may include automated filtering, rate limits, human review of operational events, and account restrictions.

We are not obligated to provide an explanation for every refusal, limit, cooldown, or account restriction. If we believe continued access creates safety, legal, operational, or abuse risk, we may act immediately.

Subscriptions and Billing

Paid family subscriptions are billed monthly at the price shown at checkout. Billing is processed by Stripe. You may cancel through the account or billing management page. Unless otherwise required by law, partial-month refunds are not provided after a billing period begins.

Subscription access may begin after payment authorization and may change if a payment fails, a subscription is cancelled, or a billing provider reports that the subscription is no longer active. Prices, limits, and plan features may change prospectively with reasonable notice.

AI Output and Accuracy

ShortAI responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Users should verify important information with reliable sources, teachers, parents, or qualified professionals. ShortAI should not be used for emergency decisions, medical diagnosis, legal advice, financial decisions, or other high-stakes matters.

ShortAI may provide sourced answers when cited mode is used, but source availability, source quality, and search results can vary. A cited answer should be treated as a starting point for learning rather than a final authority.

Account Data

Account holders may export or delete ShortAI application data from the account page. Authentication records, payment records, and records required for legal, security, or accounting purposes may be handled by our service providers or retained as permitted by law.

Teacher-owned school assignment records, including class names, assignment titles, generated study steps, generated quizzes, student identifiers, selected answers, scores, and completion timestamps, are included in ShortAI application export and deletion flows. CSV exports downloaded by a teacher become the teacher or school's responsibility to store, share, and delete under their own policies.

Ownership

ShortAI, including its product design, software, branding, policies, and safety systems, is owned by ShortAI or its licensors. These Terms do not grant users any ownership interest in ShortAI.

Service Availability

We work to keep ShortAI available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The product may be unavailable during maintenance, upgrades, provider outages, security events, or circumstances outside our control.

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

ShortAI is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShortAI disclaims warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShortAI will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to every user.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the product changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify account holders. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
